Complex minimally invasive heart procedures

Pacemaker placement
It is a small battery operated device. Senses when the heart is beating irregularly or very slowly. This sends a signal to the heart, which makes it beat at the correct rhythm. The latest pacemakers weigh less than 30 grams.

Coronary angioplasty
Also known as percutaneous coronary intervention, it is a procedure used to open clogged arteries in the heart. Angioplasty uses a small balloon catheter that is inserted into a blocked blood vessel to help widen it and improve blood flow to the heart.

Cardiac catheterization
Cardiac catheterization is a procedure in which a thin, flexible tube (catheter) is guided through a blood vessel to the heart to diagnose or treat certain heart conditions, such as blocked arteries or an irregular heartbeat.

Closure of congenital heart disease
It consists of a very common therapeutic act in congenital heart disease. Many of them can be performed percutaneously. These procedures require general anesthesia when performed in the pediatric age, and even in adolescence.
